Tinubu Meets Newly Appointed Service Chiefs at Presidential Villa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The new military heads arrived at the Villa’s forecourt around 4 p.m. in a black Mercedes van accompanied by a green Toyota Land Cruiser.

Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye.

Tinubu had earlier, on Friday, October 24, 2025, announced sweeping changes in the nation’s military leadership.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the shake-up was part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture.

The statement confirmed that General Olufemi Oluyede replaced General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, while Major-General W. Shaibu was appointed Chief of Army Staff. Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke now serves as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes the position of Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing service chiefs for their dedication and patriotic service to the nation, urging the new military leaders to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces.
