Osun Government Appoints Davido as Chairman of Sports Trust Fund
The Osun State Government has named Nigerian music icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.
The announcement was made by the state’s Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, who explained that the initiative is aimed at strengthening funding and promoting development in the state’s sports sector.
According to the government, Davido’s appointment is expected to attract financial investments from both local and international partners to enhance sports infrastructure and support athletes across Osun.
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to revamping sports facilities, including the ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, which is set to meet Olympic standards upon completion.
Adewusi further revealed that the state is in the final stages of establishing the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports administration, policy formulation, and development.
He added that the Sports Trust Fund, now led by Davido, was created to ensure sustainable funding and long-term progress in the sector.
In his words:
> “The ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium will be completed soon to meet Olympic standards. Plans are also well underway for the creation of the Osun State Sports Commission to coordinate all aspects of sports policy and development. The Sports Trust Fund will attract support from sports philanthropists within and outside the state. Davido has graciously accepted to chair the fund, and his involvement will help drive significant growth in Osun sports.”
