Saudi Arabia Suspends Visas for Nigeria, Egypt, 12 Other Countries Ahead of 2025 Hajj
Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended certain visa categories for citizens of 14 countries, including Nigeria, India, and Pakistan, as part of new travel regulations ahead of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
According to reports, the suspension—affecting Umrah, family visit, and business visas—will take effect in April 2025 and remain in place through June, when the Hajj season ends.
Officials clarified that the move does not affect pilgrims officially registered for Hajj. Citizens of the affected countries who have completed the proper Hajj registration process through approved channels will still be granted entry into the Kingdom.
The visa restriction is aimed at reducing the number of unauthorized individuals who use Umrah or visit visas to participate in the Hajj, often contributing to overcrowding and logistical challenges. This decision comes in the wake of the 2024 Hajj tragedy, where thousands died due to overcrowding and extreme heat.
Starting April 13, the issuance of visit visas for the listed countries will be suspended. Only those with approved Hajj registrations through designated authorities will be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia during the pilgrimage period.
