Buyers Can Get Their N65 Per Litre Refund From Dangote Refinery

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that customers who bought Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at prices higher than the advertised rates from its key partners—Ardova Plc, Heyden, or MRS—can receive a refund.

This follows the refinery’s recent decision to lower its gantry price from N890 per litre to N825 per litre. According to a statement issued on Sunday, the initiative aims to ensure that Nigerians benefit directly from the price reduction, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to boost economic growth.

The refinery confirmed that it would refund N65 per litre to marketers for over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS purchased at the old price of N890 per litre, ensuring that consumers pay less for fuel. Despite this move, the refinery absorbed a N16 billion loss to support affordability.

Refund Process and Pricing Guidelines

Effective February 27, 2025, Dangote Refinery assured its business partners that they would not suffer losses due to the price adjustment. More importantly, the new lower prices are expected to take effect nationwide, allowing Nigerians to access cheaper fuel.

The company urged all marketers purchasing fuel from the refinery to pass the price reduction to consumers. It also warned against exploitative pricing, condemning retailers who buy fuel at N825 per litre but resell it at N945 or more per litre, labeling such actions as excessive profiteering that burdens Nigerians.

To ensure compliance, the refinery encourages consumers who purchase fuel above the approved price from Ardova Plc, Heyden, or MRS to report the overcharge with their receipts for a full refund of the excess amount.

Approved Retail Prices Per Litre

  • MRS: N860 (Lagos), N870 (South-West), N880 (North), N890 (South-South & South-East)
  • Heyden & Ardova Plc (AP): N865 (Lagos), N875 (South-West), N885 (North), N895 (South-South & South-East)

With the new N825 per litre gantry price, Dangote Refinery expects that no Nigerian should pay more than N900 per litre nationwide. The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality, eco-friendly fuel that enhances vehicle performance and supports public health.

Commitment to Economic Growth

Dangote Refinery emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s vision for self-sufficiency in the energy sector, supporting Nigeria’s economic development. The refinery remains committed to affordable, high-quality energy solutions that benefit Nigerians and contribute to a sustainable future.
