Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas “strongly rejected” a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip, his office stated on Wednesday.
In an official statement, Abbas and the Palestinian leadership firmly opposed any calls to seize Gaza or displace Palestinians from their homeland, emphasizing that “legitimate Palestinian rights are not negotiable.”
Speaking on Palestinian public television, Abbas’s spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeina, reaffirmed that Gaza is “an integral part of the State of Palestine.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), led by Abbas, also denounced Trump’s reported proposal to relocate Gazans to Egypt or Jordan.
“We reject all calls for the displacement of Palestinians from their homeland,” said PLO Secretary-General Hussein al-Sheikh.
