Alistair “Ali” Conn is a South African social entrepreneur and conservationist dedicated to addressing food insecurity and hunger in the country. As the Chief Innovation Officer of SA Harvest, a non-profit organization committed to rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to communities in need, Conn has played a pivotal role in ensuring that millions of meals reach those facing food shortages.
Before dedicating his career to social impact, Conn worked as a creative producer on major international productions, including X Factor UK and Nitro Circus, and collaborated with globally recognized artists such as The Rolling Stones and Ed Sheeran. However, his passion for making a difference led him to pivot his career towards humanitarian work.
In 2015, Conn founded the UPcycle Project, a non-profit initiative focused on sustainable food solutions and environmental conservation. His efforts contributed to the Western Cape’s greening initiatives and laid the foundation for his work at SA Harvest. Under his leadership, the organization has rescued millions of kilograms of surplus food and provided countless meals to underprivileged communities, making a significant impact on South Africa’s hunger crisis.
Conn’s contributions have earned him recognition as one of Africa’s 100 Brightest Young Minds and a spot on Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans list. These accolades reflect his commitment to innovation and social change.
