Sanctification is about hating evil and choosing righteousness in our everyday lives. As we read in 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 6:11, it’s a call to be set apart, living according to God’s standards. Through His Word, as stated in John 15:3 and Ephesians 5:26, God cleanses us, making us pure and holy. A sanctified life is one that continuously rejects sin and embraces the path of holiness.
Cost of Ungodliness
Ungodliness has serious consequences. First, it opens the door to sickness and diseases. Mark 2:5 and John 15:14 show that living in disobedience to God hinders healing and invites trouble. Second, ungodliness blocks our access to supernatural breakthroughs. Proverbs 1:23 and Isaiah 45:1-2 warn that rejecting God’s wisdom can prevent us from receiving divine opportunities. Most importantly, ungodliness blocks access to eternity with Christ, as we are reminded in 1 Corinthians 6:9 and Mark 7:22-23. Living in sin without repentance will separate us from God’s eternal promise.
Benefits of Sanctification
Choosing sanctification comes with great benefits. First, sanctification secures peace and serenity. Isaiah 59:8 and 32:17-18 assure us that when we walk in righteousness, peace will reign in our hearts, no matter the storms around us. Second, sanctification brings divine honor. As 2 Timothy 2:19-20 and Proverbs 14:34 tell us, when we live holy lives, we gain favor with God, and He elevates us for His purpose. Sanctification positions us to receive His blessings and honor.
What are the Pathways to Sanctification?
How do we walk the path of sanctification? First, we must engage in the spirit of the fear of the Lord and the spirit of holiness, as described in Isaiah 11:2 and Zechariah 4:6. The fear of the Lord isn’t just reverence, but also a commitment to live according to His Word in all areas of life. Second, we must stay committed to fellowship with the saints. Hebrews 3:13 and 12:13 stress the importance of staying connected to the body of believers. Fellowship strengthens us, encourages us, and holds us accountable in our walk with God (Isaiah 84:7, Obadiah 1:17).
Note: A sanctified life is impossible without faith.
A sanctified life cannot be lived without faith. It is through faith that we receive God’s grace to live holy. Faith is the foundation of sanctification—without faith, we cannot walk in holiness. It is God’s power working through us, enabling us to live lives that honor Him.
How to Secure Forgiveness
When we fall short, we must seek forgiveness through genuine repentance. Repentance is not a process; it’s a decision. Hebrews 12:15, James 1:7, and Genesis 49:3-4 teach us that repentance requires promptness. It’s not something to delay or put off—it’s an immediate response to sin. The sooner we repent, the quicker we can receive God’s forgiveness and cleansing. Repentance keeps us in right standing with God, ensuring we stay in fellowship with Him.
Let us choose sanctification today—embracing holiness, living by faith, and engaging the fear of the Lord. May we remain committed to fellowship and repent swiftly when we fall short. This is the path that leads to peace, divine honor, and a life that is pleasing to God.
