Kanayo O. Kanayo, born Anayo Modestus Onyekwere on March 1, 1962, is a distinguished Nigerian actor and lawyer. Raised in Aba, Abia State, he hails from Nru Umueze Oboama Ezinihitte, Imo State. Kanayo’s educational journey includes diplomas in Mass Communication and Law, a graduate degree in philosophy from the University of Lagos, and a master’s degree in political sciences.

Kanayo ventured into acting in 1982, gaining prominence with his debut in the 1992 film “Living in Bondage.” His prolific career spans over 100 films, earning him accolades like the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for “Family Battle” in 2006. Known for portraying villains, especially in films centered around occultic practices, he has left an indelible mark on Nollywood.

Beyond acting, Kanayo pursued a career in law, obtaining a Law degree from the University of Abuja in 2018, subsequently being called to the Nigerian Bar in 2020. He contested for political positions, displaying his commitment to public service.

Honored with the Order of the MFR and a Special Recognition Award at the 2012 Africa Movie Academy Awards, Kanayo remains a distinguished figure in Nigerian entertainment. His resilience, multifaceted talents, and dedication to both the arts and law underscore his lasting impact on the industry and society.
