Filmmaker Charles Okpaleke has announced an upcoming historical adaptation titled “Ekwumekwu”.

Filmmaker Charles Okpaleke has revealed that his theatrical production company, Play Network Studios, will collaborate on a new movie project titled “Ekwumekwu.” The upcoming film will be based on the story of the “British opposition by the Igbos,” and Charles stated that he took a personal interest in the story due to the significant role the Aro people played in protecting the Igbo land. Max Siollun wrote the story, and Charles believes that it aligns with the focus of his company on retelling African history through feature films.

Charles also highlighted his connection to the Aro people, as he hails from Arondizogu, the largest settlement of the Aro people, who are believed to have migrated from Arochukwu.
