The ‘Re-write Nigeria development Initiative, 12 days in Christmas White Sands Community Project.

The Re-write Nigeria Development Initiative TRNDI is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable Basic Education/Literacy, Talents in Children Discovery, Development and Upskilling and Entrepreneurship empowerment for socioeconomic development, aimed at benefiting children from disadvantaged communities in Nigeria.

Re-writing Nigeria a community at a time, TRNDI is focusing on White Sands Community for the year 2020, titled as 12 Days of Christmas.

12 days of Christmas is an initiative by the Re-Write Nigeria in partnership with Karmod Nigeria, with Mrs Dame Abimbola Fashola as the Patroness and Mrs Gloria Jemedafe as the Founder/ President of TRNDI.

The press conference which took place on the 31st of October at the Temple Hill place in Ikoyi, showed everyone in attendance the condition of White Sands Community and the urgency of the project at hand.
One of which is the health condition of the residents of this community, a popular White Sands doctor called “Doctor White sand” who is a medical practitioner with no medical knowledge whatsoever, though has been treating residents of White Sands for so long. Doctor White Sands treats the sick by giving injections, drips and also medicines with the little he was able to learn from a pharmacist.

12 Days of Christmas is a project which aims at taking off Children from the slums to a better environment, where they can grow and have a good life like other children with this particular edition focused on White Sands Community in Lagos State.
TRNDI in partnership with companies like Karmod Nigeria is looking into providing good housing conditions, education, and also entrepreneurial skills for parents of these kids because like Mrs Gloria said at the meeting “you cannot take away the children from their mothers, so the best thing to do is to empower the parents as well”.

Starting from the first of December to the 12th of December, lots of activities have been lined up for each day such as health care, psychosocial support and the likes.

The 12th day of Christmas will be rounded off with musical performance by different artistes, with Patoranking being the official artiste of the day.

” 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS ” was formed due to the overwhelming need to assist VULNERABLE CHILDREN from destitute, displaced and disadvantaged communities/slums in Nigeria with their families. This festival is set to create Joy and Hope of a better future as espoused by the Christmas message. It is poised to take place every year, addressing the situation of a different community at a time.

This maiden edition will create the biggest platform for reaching out to Vulnerable Children trapped in the disadvantaged communities of our society, attracting strategic intervention donor support and charitable contributions from within Nigeria and Nigerians in Diaspora by drawing the attention of Nigerians living abroad to this prevalent issue in their country.
With this combined participation ,not one but many would benefit from the festival as lives will be touched, one Community at a time.
